Our footprint in Louisiana

Building opportunities for generations

ExxonMobil has been a part of the Louisiana community for over 115 years, and we’re deeply invested in its future. We believe that education is the key to opportunity, which is why we're focused on supporting educational initiatives across the state. Concurrent with our agreement with CF Industries in Donaldsonville, we’ve been engaged with residents and nonprofit organizations to find areas where we can make meaningful contributions and support the overall well-being of our communities.

Education initiatives

Education to transform lives

We’re empowering the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers in Louisiana. We support a range of educational initiatives, from hands-on STEM camps to scholarships that open doors to higher education. Our commitment to learning extends to inspiring younger generations to work on environmental solutions for the future.

Tapia STEM camps

We’re sponsors of the Tapia Center STEM camps in Louisiana, offering middle and high school students hands-on, project-based learning experiences. During this year’s camp at Southern University and A&M College-Baton Rouge, students learned about carbon dioxide and the importance of its effective management in a lower-carbon future. These engaging activities allow students to gain a deeper understanding of sustainable emissions management practices while fostering their interest in STEM fields.

LSU

We recently announced plans to invest $2 million in Louisiana State University (LSU) to advance strategic research initiatives and elevate the local workforce. The funding will support research in carbon capture utilization and storage, advanced recycling of plastic waste, and greenhouse gas emission-reduction technology. It will also bolster student scholarships, mentorship programs, student career recruiting and preparation and other academic programs within LSU.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette

We’re investing $600,000 in the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to fund scholarships for students in Vermilion Parish and advance the state's energy sector. The gift will establish two new $50,000 endowed scholarships for first-year students pursuing degrees in engineering and the sciences. It will also provide $500,000 for outreach efforts in the University’s Energy Institute of Louisiana and the Kathleen Babineaux Blanco Public Policy Center.
