Barry Engle

Barry Engle is Vice President of Exxon Mobil Corporation and President, Low Carbon Solutions. He is building a global business focused on developing and implementing at scale a portfolio of lower-emission energy solutions that will help accelerate society’s progress toward net zero. ExxonMobil is pursuing up to $30 billion in lower-emission opportunities from 2025 through 2030.

Mr. Engle was previously the Founder and CEO of Qell Partners, an investment platform focused on mobility and transportation. Under his leadership, Qell Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: QELL) completed a $3.3 billion merger with Lilium (NASDAQ: LILM), a German aerospace company developing an eVTOL aircraft.

Prior to starting Qell, Mr. Engle had a three-decade career in the automotive sector. He spent five years in senior executive roles at General Motors Company, joining GM in 2015 as President of GM South America and later serving as President of GM International. As President of GM North America, he led GM’s largest business, with $100+ billion in annual revenue; he was also Global Head of Chevrolet and served on the board of GM’s China joint venture.

Before joining GM, Mr. Engle spent time leading high growth, private equity and venture capital-backed companies, serving as CEO of a Tier 1 automotive supplier, Agility Fuel Systems, and of European electric vehicle manufacturer Think EV. Before joining Think EV, he spent two years as President and CEO of New Holland Agricultural Equipment in Turin, Italy.

Mr. Engle also spent a number of years with Ford Motor Company in a variety of global executive roles, including President & CEO of Ford Canada, head of US Marketing for Ford brand and President of Ford Brazil. During his early career with Ford, Mr. Engle spent time living and working in Mexico and Japan.

Mr. Engle has served as a director of both private and public company boards, and is currently the Chairman of the Board of ABC Technologies, a Canadian Tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry.

Mr. Engle holds a BA in Economics from Brigham Young University and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Engle has served on the National Advisory Council for the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University since 2006. He and his wife, Shannon, are the parents of 6 children.
