Steve has more than 25 years of legal experience with ExxonMobil, serving in various role across the upstream, downstream, chemicals and low carbon solutions value chains. Today, Steve serves as Assistant General Counsel, where he oversees and manages the Low Carbon Solutions law team.
With years of experience working climate issues both from a litigation and a corporate perspective on special project assignments in Dallas – home to his favorite hockey team – Steve is singularly focused on helping build a new business that supports the interests of shareholders, stakeholders and customers who want to reduce their emissions.
Steve received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in Middle East history from the University of Chicago and a JD/Law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Steve joined ExxonMobil in 1999 in the litigation department and has extensive experience working across time zones, having spent nearly a decade overseas posted in Qatar and Angola. Steve’s senior leadership roles most recently included Assistant General Counsel for Commercial & Operations, and Assistant General Counsel of Litigation.
When not at work, Steve is involved in helping his son in Boy Scouts, his family’s church and listening progressive rock, and, of course, hockey podcasts.
Steve is married to Catherine and they have two children: Sam (11) and Georgia (9).
